At the University of Prince Edward Island, the Department of Psychology are seeking a Research Coordinator. The Research Coordinator will provide project coordination and lead community and stakeholder engagement for a project in the area of youth mental health service provision. The youth mental health project will help inform the development of inclusive and accessible youth services on PEI that are based on evidence, informed by lived experience, and shaped by social justice principles.
The Research Coordinator will collaborate with the team of researchers, knowledge users, care providers, patient and family advisors, and other stakeholders in Prince Edward Island, and communicate with teams involved in similar initiatives in other jurisdictions. The ideal candidate will have a proven history of meaningful research contribution and collaboration with a variety of stakeholder groups, and the ability to use sound project coordination skills to effectively coordinate research activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the principal investigator, with task-focused supervision provided by various members of the grant team, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Serve as the main point of contact for organizing and administering study tasks at all phases of the youth mental health project in Prince Edward Island
  • Project coordination (develop project plans, monitor progress, track milestones/deliverables)
  • Coordinate regular meetings with the Principal and Co-investigators, knowledge users, patient/public partners, and other stakeholders
  • Prepare research ethics applications and amendments, data access requests and/or data sharing agreements where applicable
  • Develop and execute recruitment strategies for study participants (including mental health and community services representatives, and young people inclusive of diverse backgrounds and identities)
  • Lead public engagement activities (recruitment of patient/public partners, coordinating and chairing meetings, developing meeting materials, etc.)
  • Develop interview protocols and conduct interviews with young people
  • Support the development of qualitative analysis frameworks
  • Develop surveys and other data collection tools
  • Perform data entry, management, and analysis
  • Manage and storage and organization of all research documentation
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative data analysis
  • Draft knowledge dissemination products such as conference abstracts, manuscripts, briefing materials/plain language summaries, and reports
  • Performing other related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A minimum of an undergraduate degree with graduate degree in the health disciplines or a related field as an asset, or a similar combination of post-secondary education and research experience
  • A minimum of three years' research experience is essential, including participant recruitment, and applying qualitative and/0r or quantitative data collection/analysis
  • Experience with the coordination of research projects, or similar related experience
  • Possess an understanding of the principles of patient-oriented research
  • Experience with communicating and collaborating with a wide range of stakeholder groups (e.g., decision makers, academics, care providers, community organizations, members of the public)
  • Experience working with equity-deserving groups would be considered a strong asset
  • Strong organizational, communication, and writing skills are essential
  • Must have working knowledge of the Microsoft suite of programs (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), excellent literature search skills, and ability to quickly adapt to use of other programs (e.g., NVivo, statistical analysis software, Zoom)
  • Previous experience conducting qualitative interviews is an asset
  • Previous experience in the development of surveys is an asset
  • Ability to create common visual media such as figures, diagrams, charts etc. is an asset
